Exploring Amelia’s Charms

While on Amelia, you may want improve your game on the beautiful golf courses at the Fernandina Beach Golf Club, the Amelia River Golf Club or the or the renowned Golf Club at North Hampton to name a few. You can book tee time directly online by the clicking links of each respective club in the previous sentence.


If a horseback ride along the beach appeals to you, check out Kelly Seahorse Ranch.  Maybe a guided kayak tour through the nature packed waterways around Big and Little Talbot islands is of interest.  If so, let the professionals at Kayak Amelia unleash the beauty of the islands to you. 


For the history buffs, you may wish to explore Fort Clinch, base of Union operations throughout the Civil War. Fort Clinch offers Geocaching and conducts Civil War reenactments in period uniforms to bring to life the colorful history of this island of 7 flags.  If you would like to "stretch your string", cast your line off of Amelia’s mile long, pedestrian only fishing bridge offering some of the best fishing grounds in Florida. 


Also listed here is a website with reviews for a number of scrumptious Amelia Island dining options.  Our favorites include: Joe's 2nd Street Bistro which has great seafood and dining inside and outside. Cafe Karibo is a casual restaurant with healthy fare, in and outside dining, occasional entertainment and a bar next door. For a true culinary adventure try Salt at the Ritz, come hungry and take your time to savor every bite. For complete indulgence, try Nana Teresa’s Bakery, which has a wide range of delicious baked treats.


To redeem yourself head over the to very casual Mustard Seed Cafe and Juice Bar, a local favorite health food cafe inside of the Nassau Health Foods organic grocery.  If you want to enjoy the best ocean view on the island while dining, but don’t feel like cooking; stay in and place your order with Amelia To Go, which will deliver meals to you from a variety of restaurants on the island.


You may want to venture out to Cumberland Island to explore its unspoiled seashores or take a private boat tour of the island with local wild life experts from On The Water Adventures.


There are also a number of state parks within a ten-mile radius of the penthouse.  All offer a wide gamut of activities and wild life observation experiences.  Listed below are some of our favorites:

After all that adventuring it might be time to indulge in a spa treatment at the Ritz Carlton just a short walk from the penthouse….or partake of the culinary delights at Salt, the Ritz's AAA Five Diamond restaurant.  By the way, if you patron the Ritz salon for a haircut or the spa for one of their services, you can also make use of their well equipped fitness center. 


Other nearby fitness centers include the YMCA offering a wide array of exercise classes, free weights and fitness machines which are available to you for a modest daily fee.  Amelia offers bicycle and pedestrian only tree lined paths.  You can rent bicycles as well as surfboards, boogie boards, kayaks and standup paddle boards at Hall’s Beach Store to make the most of your fun in the sun.
